Planning your wedding is one of the most exciting times of your life, but it also comes with a lot of decisions. Choosing the right wedding vendors is one of the biggest. From photographers and florists to caterers and your wedding officiant (hi, that's me!), these are the professionals who will help bring your dream day to life. Here are some essential questions to ask your wedding vendors before booking!

At Perfectly Celebrated, I’ve worked with countless couples throughout Cleveland and Northeast Ohio, and I’ve seen firsthand how asking the right questions can make all the difference. So before you sign any contracts, here’s what to ask to make sure you’re hiring vendors who truly understand your vision, and who will show up for you in every way that matters.
Are You Available on Our Wedding Date?
This one may seem obvious, but this should be your first question. Popular wedding dates in Cleveland and NE Ohio (especially fall weekends) fill up fast. Don’t fall in love with a vendor’s style or pricing before confirming availability. When you're looking for vendors in a FB group, always list your date, location, and budget or price range for the most qualified responses.
What’s Included in Your Packages?
Every vendor structures their pricing differently. Make sure you understand exactly what you’re getting. Ask for a breakdown of:
Services included
Travel fees (especially if your venue is outside Cleveland or in rural NE Ohio)
Set-up or clean-up time
Extra charges for additional hours or upgrades
At Perfectly Celebrated, I offer ceremony options from a simple sign and drive to fully personalized experiences. You’ll always know what’s included, and there are no hidden
fees, ever.
Do You Customize Your Services to Fit Our Style?
Your wedding shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all. Ask vendors how they tailor their services to reflect your story, culture, and preferences. As a wedding officiant, I take pride in creating custom ceremonies that feel true to you. I get to know my couples through a relaxed questionnaire and planning session so the ceremony feels heartfelt, polished, and authentic.
Can We Read Reviews or See Examples of Your Work?
Reputation matters. Look for real reviews on Google, Facebook, or Instagram. A professional vendor should have testimonials, photos, or videos that give you confidence. While reviews on the Knot are helpful, keep in mind that they don't vet the vendors on that site, so it's important for you to take a deep dive into your vendor's business. There are many great vendors who don't utilize those sites as they can be very expensive, so expand your search! Make sure they're a legitimate business, and they carry liability insurance.
What’s Your Backup Plan in Case of an Emergency?
Even the most reliable vendors need a contingency plan. Ask if they have backups or a team in place in case of illness, emergencies, or bad weather. At Perfectly Celebrated, I have a trusted network of licensed officiants across Northeast Ohio to ensure you’re covered no matter what.
How Do You Communicate with Clients Before the Wedding?
Great communication is key. Ask how often they’ll check in, if they offer planning calls or meetings, and how they’ll handle changes or questions along the way. Let them know your preferred method of communication (phone call, text, or email). With me, you’ll get consistent updates, a clear timeframe, and quick replies so you always feel supported and in the loop.
What Is Your Booking Process Like?
A professional vendor should offer a clear, simple process from the first conversation to the signed contract. Clear payment schedules and written contracts protect both you and the vendor. Ask about the following:
How to reserve your date
Deposit amount and payment schedule
Final due dates
Cancellation and rescheduling policies
What Sets You Apart From Other Vendors?
This is your chance to hear what makes a vendor special. Look for someone whose values and vibe align with yours. At Perfectly Celebrated, what sets me apart is my heart. I don’t just show up to say a few words. I’m there to create a moment that celebrates you. Whether it’s a glamorous black-tie event or a cozy elopement in the park, your ceremony will feel personal, intentional, and full of love.

Ask the Questions That Matter Most to You
While these questions are a great starting point, don’t be afraid to ask anything else that’s important to your relationship and celebration. Prepare a list of questions prior to your meeting so you don't miss any important details, and don't be afraid to ask for clarification if you don't understand something. Your wedding vendors should not only be skilled, but they should make you feel heard, valued, and cared for.
If you’re looking for a professional, warm, and trusted wedding officiant in Cleveland or Northeast Ohio, I’d be honored to be part of your day.
